Welcome And The Literacy Crisis
SPEAKER_01Welcome back to the Way The Money Podcast episode. And I'm your host, Dantees. And today, we got to talk about this, people. And we gotta just talk about this because I know you hear this around a lot. We living in a literacy crisis. Yes. A bunch of people. I want to say they don't know how to read. They don't want to read. And it's and it's clearly evident. A lot of y'all don't even want to read unless it's pertaining to something dealing with beef, drama, celebrity myths, or any type of shenanigan like this. It seemed like all y'all focused on is just reading the negative parts of life and just not understanding that it's more stuff out here that you're gonna be putting your time and energy to advancing your vocabulary for some of y'all, because y'all don't even type right commenting or on post or make y'all when y'all making y'all own post. So for the people that can't that only read Facebook and Twitter posts, but skip the term of services when you're reading a contract says a lot about you to other people. You are most likely to get scammed from companies and short chain from customers, or even get taken advantage of when it comes down to business deals. And I'll go into detail and explain why reading is essential and be the reason why you become successful.
Loans Interest And The Fine Print
SPEAKER_01Reading and finance is the most essential thing in this prospect of life. Most people think it's all about the numbers. It's not when you get a loan from the bank, they usually check your credit. Credit score, understand and comprehend you must pay this back and full. While some loans don't, but majority of them do accrue interest as soon as you receive funds or if or get the loan approval. Unless the loan turns specifically state otherwise. The overall point of it is don't ever sign anything off without reading it thoroughly first, people. Check your loan agreement for the accrual state date, how the interest is calculated, and whether unpaid interest is added to the principal. You see how just reading just gave you a different insight on the whole versus you just paying a loan more than likely, probably be just paying the interest anyway, and not putting no money toward the principal. But the principal is the key component of how you get your payments more down
Contracts And Corporate Enslavement
SPEAKER_01every month. Another example where reading is essential, you are either doing business with corporations or working for them. People, I can't scratch to you this enough. Read your contracts, please. This is a life or death situation. Your creative freedom, integrity, and financial longevity can hang at the balance, and all it takes is one bad contract, one wrong misinterpretation of percentage can lead into corporate enslavement. And what I mean by corporate enslavement, corporate enslavement meaning you'll be paying off for what you owe for the rest of your life, meaning your debt can never be repaid off. Because they can mark you up. Say for instance that you got a record deal. You're supposed to make $10 million in, you know, in record sales and all this other type of stuff. Merge record sales, all this. Then you come back around, you you had a hot moment, and then you fall off. Like, meaning, like, people not really checking for your music as they once was. Now it's harder to do that, but understand you still got litigation and stipulation behind you to you gotta fulfill this contract if you want to get out. Because now, and like everything I put out now is not the label, don't like it. The label wants this out, but I don't want this out. I know what my fan wants, but now you you remember right, you ain't recouped yet, right? So you ain't got no set at the table. You ain't made no money. You lose if anything, they lose the money on you trying to advertise you. And it gets to a point when you get so caught up, when you get so when you hit rock bottom, it's to a point they sell you. Now it it really ain't nothing they can do with you. It just you basically fall to nothing. That that means the regulator, when they say sell, the recollect will just gave up on you. There ain't really nothing else they can do. And and and to go on the specifications of what I mean about the contract, they can take a they usually have you take a lump sum up front along with random stipulation, as I just said earlier, that must that you must fulfill in order to satisfy the contract. You never know what type of arrangement once you sign your signature, it's it's seen that you read everything specifically and understand the term that you are agreeing with.
Legal Weight Of What You Sign
SPEAKER_01For the people that don't know a contract legally binds you unless there is a breach of contract, which immediately terminates the contract. Although the contract no longer stands, the other party can still sue if the obligations of the contract are not fulfilled, such as failure to pay on time, failure to perform services on time, which the court will determine a validity of the contract, whether the the offense is valid to even be ruled in a
Praise Break On Reading And Growth
SPEAKER_01court. And before I let you go, and before I let you go on this day, I have received the knowledge that you are missing the word, spelling words wrong consistently. You even held up the clad doing popcorn reads, but fear no longer. Let me be your guide. Let me turn this page to this chapter. Eyes on me. Take your time, Pastor. Lord, give me the strength to tell these people in order to succeed.
SPEAKER_00Read to your eyes, bleed. Read helps you acquire the bread so you can feed.
SPEAKER_01Read the most important parts to get what you need. Learn how to spell so you won't look dumb when you're supposed to feed. Understand the reading is precisely.
SPEAKER_00You must give yourself a message to alleviate, to alleviate the angels. You can stop this.
AI Still Requires Strong Reading
SPEAKER_01Because at the same time, you gotta understand. If you don't specify the question that you're asking from that chat GBT, you won't understand. But even though we have a bunch of AI systems that use that can give you the answer, but you must know how to read. Whether if you read a Harry Potter book or anything that can literally challenge you to upgrade your vocabulary. Get a dictionary, get a source, a cyclopedia, an atlas, learn how to read them out. It is a lot of stuff out here for you to read. Ain't nobody else gonna give you the time or the compassion to do that because a lot of people already expect you to read.
History Family And Literacy Barriers
SPEAKER_01And as a black man, that's a stipulation that they had us under since the beginning, since we got over here. They didn't want us to know how to read. They didn't want us to know how to comprehend. They didn't want us to know how to write. I have a grandmother, she's 101 years old. She was raised up in them times where people had to sneak and teach them how to write. And it says a lot too, because she has seen the generation go from back then, from the cottonfield era, to now we living in more of a tech savvy cars, all this type of stuff era. So she grew up. So imagine somebody being from the early 1900s, all the way up to now. She seen a lot. And she told me stories on how, you know, even though a white woman helped her read when she wasn't supposed to, they they had little schools and stuff like that. It wasn't how it is now. It wasn't no school district, it wasn't no school system, it wasn't nothing under, you know, under government.
Kids Books And Learning Off Screens
SPEAKER_01So, and I say this with all respect, people, whether if you gotta pick up a book, even your kids, tell them if they ain't already in the arts, whether it's just writing poetry, reading, uh, contextualizing ideas for themselves, have your kids practice on this fine day art. Don't just have them on the game and put Blue or Cocoa Melon or on Fortnite all day. Have your kids do something else, whether also going outside, getting that, and also reading. Have them something to give they get a brain, because you never know what they might end up. I've been into reading since I was since I was seven, I'm 24. I like doing poetry since I was in the middle school. So over time I became more into the arts as I began to express myself and express myself through writing, wanting to learn how to play instruments and stuff like that. So my love for the arts came at a young age. And you know, don't don't do yourself a disservice putting putting a phone in your kids' face, people. We gotta stop doing that. Let them be able to bask and enjoy life the regular way, not even comprehend what they let them do a crossword puzzle and put a reward like you do stuff like that when they kid. Because whether it was a Sedoku, crossword puzzle, I love doing crossword puzzles. Used to like doing Sedoku. I can't even do a I can do some, but not how I used to. I used to run through them things when I was younger, like chish, checkers, um, you know, even Domino understand that's an adult game and that's you know, we don't promote gambling. The the family bonding that you have, even Una always do stuff like that to where, nah, Monopoly, play Monopoly, help your kids understand this finance, because that's what we push on this podcast.
Know Your Numbers And Your Records
SPEAKER_01If you're not growing in finance, if you're not growing in financial literacy, you need to be growing it somewhere else to help you to understand financial literacy. Because if you don't know how to read, you ain't gonna batter reading no numbers. I don't care what it is. You can understand, okay, this number is one million. But then when they start giving you these equity, equity percentages amounts and how much it accrue this and the assessed value and the appraiser value. When they start giving you all these numbers, then what? You can't say it. I don't know how to read. Can you break it down to me? You don't want to be the person going up here making big deals and doing all this. Oh, I have my lawyer to do it. I have my lawyer to do it. Whole time he might be taking money out of your pocket because it's a bunch of celebrities that let people manage them, take money out of their pocket. They literally lost millions, millions, whether it was child, child stars, like some TV shows, or it was just people, like I said, or it was just rich people in position that really didn't even have time to even look at their financial records and stuff like that, because they were just so scheduled so hecky. And we understand that, but people, you have to know your records better than any professional. Because if you don't know your stuff hand by hand, if you don't make no lifestyle training, you still live in the same. Or if your work productivity is growing, which meaning your income is growing, you need to check all that off. You need to do your own bookkeeping at home too, just to make sure. Because when the CPA do it, they just you're doing it at home to check over them. Because if something ain't adding up, then you need when you meet with this person, then you need to sit down and have this talk with them. If we got two different numbers, what do you have that I don't have on my page? Now you can get to the bottom of the situation. Cause then if you steal it, you can fire them and show. Cause yeah, it's not nah, because we don't because people don't work hard for to get their money stolen. We don't play like and that's why I said if I'm paying you for a job, do the job. Don't come in here stealing my money under my nose. And I gave you a position over blowing. Cause then if I get the law involved, I'm gonna make sure you go to jail. I'm gonna make sure of it that you go to jail. And no, if ends are but survivor. So that's why I said never depend on them to look all over your finances. Never depend. I ain't never say never have or never get one. Never depend on them to look over your finances and check every third thing off. If you feel like something off, don't be on the ones. You need to check your account. Don't sit up there, waste your time, not check it. And then it gets down to it's been three years later, he done stole five million dollars from me. Now he took a trip to Rancher Cuckoo Monga, and you can't get into this one. He didn't change it no more. So,
Daily Reading Habits And Closing CTA
SPEAKER_01yeah, people. Be smart, be diligent, but be vigilant on when it comes down to your finances and reading, people. Read. Even if it's even if it's one or two pages a day, read something that's informational. Because if you read, if you read the information before they try to before they try to hypnotize you out here in the real world, and it goes for the people that not that staying with their parents, for the people that haven't really really just went out to go buy property and stuff like that. Yeah, maybe you're preparing, understand what you're reading, read them contracts, understand, like I said, even if they're talking to you, even if you gotta record the conversation, you can sneak and record a conversation or whatever, however, that may go, and then you play it back, write some write the words down that you don't understand, and then go look them up and see how they use them in that sentence to be able to, okay. So he's saying this and that, and then once you gain more full context of the situation that you're putting yourself in, now you're able to go, okay, nah, I'd rather not deal with this because I can kind of see this kind of going down an iffy road, and I'm not comfortable, and that's fine. They can't make you be their client, vice versa. You can't make them be your CPA if they're not comfortable with you and what you do. See what I'm saying? So, yeah. And with all that being said, people, that'll be the end of this episode. And I appreciate y'all. I hope y'all enjoy my little praise break segment and all that. And I appreciate y'all for always tuning in and always just just watching and always, you know, don't stop watching. Cause I got information for all y'all to hear, to know, to just to just embrace it. Don't forget people to always read. I ain't gonna never stop saying it. Read, read, read. Make sure you subscribe to the YouTube, like, and comment, and share it to the people that you know that don't be reading for real. Okay, if they don't be reading, what else could they be doing? They can't be up there doing tick to TikToks all day and can't read nothing but captions. You shouldn't be the dog went down the street. And I'm not making fun of nobody. We just need to call it how it is. Y'all gotta fix it. That's a bad problem to have, especially in this world where everybody's trying to get one over on one another. See y'all in the next episode.
